Clinical Study and In Vitro test of Cefatrizine

Abstract
|
|
|
Clinical effect and in vitro sensitivity test of cefatrizine were studied and the following results were obtained.
1) Cefatrizine was given orally 1. 0gm daily to 30 patients, consisted of 22 cases of pneumonia, 4 cases of bronchitis, 3 cases of urinary tract infection (including combined disease), 1 case of lung abscess and acute pharyngitis respectively.
2) Clinical result were excellent in 21 cases (68%), good in 7 cases (23%) and poor in 3 cases (10%) with total efficacy of 90% (28out of 31 cases).
3) In vitro sensitivity test, cefatrizine was active against S. aureus, Klebsiella pneumoniae,
Streptococcus pneumoniae and E. coli but not against Pseudomonas aeruginosa and serratia.
4) As side effects, 2 cases of nausea and 1 case of skin eruption were observed.
